Art In America Back Issues Looking for the name of an acclaimed, “disturbing,” contemporary Chinese painter/sculptor?
From what I remember of his work, he typically painted malformed, fully-grown men that looked like they were submerged in fluids…almost like they were enbalmbed and floating lifelessly…with little nubbins…and pinched faces. Also, he typically used warm, fleshy tones to paints these…reds dominated most of his paintings. And, these distorted forms made it into his sculptures as well.
I remember him having an almost generic name that began with the same first two consonants (like Show Shang) that made it easy for me to recall when I was first introduced to him. And I assume he’s internationally acclaimed, since I found him in an issue of Art In America, or Art Forum 2 or 3 years back.
Does that at all ring any bells out there?
Hi,
There’s a chinese artist who paints in glass.
He places large sheets of glass behind each other and paints a fantasmagoric sillouete(sp?) using all the sheets to give a feel of dimension. They seem like echtoplasmic beings.
I saw his work at the Saatchi Online, but you’re mentioning reds and I guess his colours are more toward green and blue.
However I can bet that you’d love his work.
Good luck.
If the American pop culture profile of French composer-jazz pianist Michel Legrand doesn’t seem what it once was, don’t be misled: his European indie film scores continue six decades on, now numbering nearly 200. But Legrand’s most beloved work remains the lovely, evocative themes he created in the ’60s and ’70s, including “I Will Wait for You” from The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The Thomas Crown Aff…
After their brilliant collaborations on Howards End and The Remains of the Day, director James Ivory and Anthony Hopkins reunited (along with producer Ismail Merchant and screenwriter Ruth Prawer Jhabvala) for this controversial film about the life and loves of the great artist Pablo Picasso. This two-hour program in A&E’s Biography series thoroughly documents the life and work of Picasso. Scenes of skating, sleigh rides, and outdoor games on frozen canals and waterways bring to life the energetic pastimes and day-to-day bustle of the Golden Age. He made the “ice sceneâ a genre in its own right. Within these winter scenes there …

French Painters Artists Do today's artists still muses?
I look at my naked body in the mirror every night before my shower and I have a beautiful body with perfect skin, I was twice daily moisturizer for the past two years, as anti-aging creams, and a perfect face. Hair are also very healthy I look like one of those men in the paintings of Michelangelo or old, who, with beautiful, full lips and mysterious, youthful look. I could become a model, I suppose, but I prefer to be the muse of a famous painter that we can have a relationship that ended badly and I'll end up drinking to death and I'll be a tragic hero, and people do a film about my life afterwards. No painters are still people asking for them? Where can I find talent, preferably French or Spanish painter?
I have an oil painting of my family in my living room. So yes. People continue to paint. Only you have to find the painter. There are tons. Im sure to find one. I, however, was painted by uncle. So, I'm not much help there. Btw. Sun protection is more important moisturizer. Best was once La Roche Posay Anthelios Fluide Extreme SPF50 +. Use a sunscreen every 2-3 hours outdoors.
